Helping Out

Last Sunday, I helped out in Nursery. And last Sunday, I helped out later that night. It was very funny. Well, this little boy was. I already knew him, but I didn't know him like this. First he brought me book after book after book. But then another little girl asked if I could read some books to her. The little boy stayed around awhile but then he went of and started playing, btw, his name is David. But then later David's little brother came up to me and just looked at me. Which is kind of normal since we know his family. Soon he ran off. Then David comes to me and has these lips. Well, I'm talking about the Mr. Potato's lips, not a person's lips. And so, POOF, a game was started. I would try to make it 'go-away-and-never-come-back' but David kept finding it and bringing it back to me. But soon, he wanted to get it from me. So if he found it 'first' and I wasn't around to 'get-it-first-so-I-could-hide-it-again' it was his turn.
He said, "Now you have to hide your eyes so I can go hide it."
SO I would close my eyes or at least look down if I was holding one of the little kids. Then he would come and tell me to find it. He, most of the time, would hide it in the same place. Once I found it right after I started and he said,
"No, you have to look everywhere first and then find it." SO I 'pretended to look everywhere and THEN 'find' it.
But soon, David started a whole NEW game. It had NOTHIN' to do with 'you-hide-somethin'-and-I'll-go-find-it'. It was 'I'm-a-bear-so-you-better-watch-out' kind of game. He chased me, I didn't run, he did, since he's only, maybe, 3. But if he caught me, he'd wrap his arms around me knees and WOULD NOT let go. Well, finally he did, but there wasn't much I could do to keep him from just RE-WRAPING his arms around my knees.
Soon his dad came to get him and his little brother. But David was SOOO happy he had been the bear.
He kept saying, "Daddy, I was a bear," and then pointing at me he said. "And I got her." Which made Adelaide and me laugh (yes, Addie was there).

That night we played the 'lip' game again. But it was a little harder because there was this other little boy that kept following me and wanted me to pick him up. Which was okay with me. David just wanted me to "run" around.

I kind of expect the same today. It would probably be amazing if he didn't ask me to play the 'lip-game'. I will put in a comment if he DID want to play it or if he DOESN'T ask to play it.

        Have a GREAT Sunday!

Flooding

Flooding……..
I have never really been in a flood. Well, there was one about a year ago, but it didn’t seem to strike this hard. My aunt’s house flooded once, but I wasn’t there. But about 2 months ago it started raining…..

So it was like any other Friday night in the school year. Dinner time was at the international school. Lots of playing with besties (and enemies). Okay, I forgot to add something, that night (and the next) were supposed to be spent at one of the local guest houses. My mom was going to stay at home with my baby brother, Jeremy, and organize our office (total disaster with 6 kids in the house). But right as we were about to leave the rain started. I mean, this was no little rain, this was RAIN. It was comin’ down, I mean, HARD. ‘Course we all (I mean all the kids) thought it was WONDERFULLY GREAT!! It turned out not so great. I was with two of my friends out when the rain started. We LOVED it. They didn’t want to come out of it, well, neither did I, my mom said I had to because we were leaving. The rain seemed like it was a lot harder than usual, but we weren’t at the houses so it was kind of hard to tell. We got to our room in the guest house. It was POURONG down. There were HUGE puddles EVERYWHERE!! I was amazed at all the water. But that wasn’t anything compared to when I saw pictures of my yard the next day.
The next day my dad (btw, it is STILL raining, nowhere near as hard but, it’s rain) tells us that he is going to go to our friends’ houses and help them because their houses had flooded. I was like, “How could it not have flooded their houses that time a year ago???” So my dad told us that we were going back to the house. Well, all except Johnny. A LOT of his friends live right around the guest house so one of them saw Johnny and is like “What are you doing here?? Wanna’ stay at my house??” SO Johnny got to stay. (But I got to stay with Adelaide all of that afternoon!!!) SO we went back to the house. NAd pretty much did nothin’ ‘til lunch and then RIGHT after I went to Adelaide’s house. But we didn’t go back to the guest house that night.
IT was a horrible storm. And then a couple of weeks ago there was some more rain and I heard the dad of our friends’ whose house had flooded the first time and one of their friends were outside trying to block out the holes where water was getting in while their wives were sticking rags in the doorways. Man, and I think, I know this happened the first time, the kids slept through the WHOLE thing!!

Esshh, here are some pictures of our yard and right outside of our yard. This was in the morning. Yep, still raining
