This week i am using two prompts (yes, ONLY two). The picture and the prompt. (yay!)
PHRASE: I opened the door, which would later be the worst decision of my life.
PICTURE:
My entry...
I waved down
towards the ship. The handkerchief in the other hand falling to my side. The
barely visible men waved back at me. I tried to smile, but I felt broken on the
inside.
After I
watched the ship—and the men—disappear, I turned to go home. Home. The last
place in the world I wanted to be.
But I
trudged froward. Knowing when I returned, it would be empty of the rowdy men I
called my family.
It was only
supposed to be a three week trip, but somehow it felt like it’d be much longer.
Too long. I’d be drowned with the sound of silence, twirling some spoon for
endless days.
But it was
to be. So I continued to trudge towards my home. The inn. The now empty inn.
I continued
on with those thoughts, reminding me I was still alone. That my “family” was
away on an adventure without me. But of course “It is too dangerous for a woman”.
I’d have to
show them. Somehow.
But how in
this world are women supposed to find a way to show men that we can do things
except by going with them on adventures?
I sighed. I
sat down on a rock and leaned against the ledge behind me. When I thumped
against it, I could tell of the hollowness behind it. I thumped it again with
my slumped back, a smile forming.
I turned
around and study the ledge. I see a crack that traces to be a door. I squint at
it. Where would it lead?
Then an idea
struck me right across the face. This is
how I could prove to the men that I could do things.
I opened the door, which would later be the worst decision of
my life.
